Papers related to a federal survey of silhouettes, 1936-1946, bulk: 1936-1937.

Papers related to a federal survey of silhouettes in New England and elsewhere sponsored by the U.S. Work Projects Administration. The papers were kept by Hannah R. (London) Siegel as an assistant to Charles K. Bolton, the compiler of the work, from 1936-37 and include correspondence and lists on the location and description of silhouettes in institutions and private hands, research and notes on the subject, and an index card file on individual silhouettes. The WPA terminated its sponsorship of the project in Dec. of 1936 and the work was apparently never published.
